The Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, JP, has joined other sports loving citizens to congratulate the Super Eagles for their scintillating performance in the World Cup qualifiers, particularly the victory over Chipoloplo of Zambia which earned Nigeria 2018 World Cup ticket.
In a press statement made available to Daily Sports, Chief Ejidike described the feat as the best thing that could happen to Nigeria at this period.
He praised the patriotic zeal of all the invited players who promptly reported to camp as well as the motivation and sense of organisation of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the role played by the Akwa Ibom State Government.
Ejidike noted the spirit of nationalism as every Nigerian stood in one accord to ensure victory in the all important encounter.
“I congratulate Nigerians and the Super Eagles on the victory over Chipoloplo of Zambia. It is worthy to note that sports should be given all the necessary support because when we in the sporting arena nobody talks about our differences. Like when the Eagles were playing nobody bothered as to their tribal or religion affiliation, all we were talking was victory and success. Now that the country is faced with political challenges, sports is a veritable tool to preach peace,” Ejidike said.
The sports philanthropist added that the Nigeria football ruling authority should begin preparations for the Mundial by organising many friendly matches.
