Liverpool, Chelsea battle for Joseph Hungbo

By Daily Sports on September 19, 2017

Premiership League rivals, Liverpool and Chelsea are set to go head to head for the acquisition of Nigerian wonderkid Joseph Hungbo, according to reports.

The Mirror claims the Reds and the Blues are fighting it out to poach rookie winger Hungbo from Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace rate the winger highly and offered him a scholarship deal before the start of the 2016-2017 campaign.

Hungbo was the winner of the Eagles Under 9-16 Player of the Year award in 2015-2016.

If the youngster eventually joins one of the interested clubs, it is envisaged that he will start with the Development squad with a view to breaking into the first team in future.

In August, he was pictured training with Crystal Palace first team players : Christian Benteke and Freddie Ladapo.

Joseph Hungbo is eligible to represent the national teams of Nigeria and England.
