Rohr expects Iwobi back for Zambia

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr said the only player that may join the team for their FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia next month will be Alex Iwobi. The up and coming Arsenal attacker suffered a thigh injury, which ruled him out of the double header against Cameroon.

Rohr maintained that he will be retaining the squad that beat the Indomitable Lions 4-0 in Uyo and were held to a 1-1 draw in Yaounde. Alex Iwobi “If he is fully fit; I expect Iwobi to return to the squad. All the same we will work with the same set of  players for the game against Zambia.”

Nigeria need to beat Zambia on October 7 in Uyo to seal their qualification for the Russia 2018 World Cup. Rohr hinted that he will not underrate the Zambians in any manner, rather the Super Eagles will work double hard and repeat the 4-0 performance against Cameroon.

Meanwhile Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed that Iwobi could return on Saturday, when the Gunners host Bournemouth in the English Premier League. (Vanguard)
