Chukwuma explains Aiteo Cup ouster

By Daily Sports on September 1, 2017

Delta Queens head coach, Clifford Chukwuma has admitted that his side lost the Aiteo Cup clash to the better side, FC Robo Queens.

The former champions were beaten 0-1 by hosts, FC Robo Queens in Wednesday’s Aiteo Cup round of 32 clash at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Lagos.

The Lagos landladies’ captain, Esther Ndubuisi‘s goal in the 50th minute proved adequate to hand the side their Aiteo Cup round of 16 ticket.

Chukwuma said his side were flat-footed in attack and created fewer chances compared with their aggressive and fleet-footed opponents.

“It was very unfortunate for us to lose the Aiteo Cup round of 32 clash to the less experienced side, FC Robo Queens.“

It was a bad day for the team, we did not click, the attack did not click throughout the encounter. We were not sharp in attack.

“We created fewer chances and in a match of this magnitude you cannot win by creating nothing or fewer chances.“

I think we need to work very hard if we are to achieve anything substantial in our future endeavours especially the upcoming Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Super Four championship in Benin City,” said Chukwuma to supersport.com.

FC Robo Queens have now joined the rest in the Aiteo Cup round of 16 berth namely title holders, Rivers Angels, Ben Women, Ibom Angels, Jokodolu Babes, Sure Babes, Sunshine Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Osun Babes, Abia Angels and Edo Queens. Others are Confluence Queens, Beautiful Tours, Bayelsa Queens and Pelican Stars. © supersport.com
