Nigeria World Cup star Babatunde Michael has said he will not quit his Qatari club and return to Europe for “peanuts”.
Babatunde was based in Ukraine when he featured for Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but he has since played in Morocco and he is now based in oil-rich Qatar.
“I have played in Europe before and I know I will still go back to play there, but I am not desperate to play again in Europe, I’ll wait patiently until when the opportunity comes with a solid deal,” he told SCORENigeria.
“I will not leave for Europe for peanuts, any deal has to be worth my time and value.”
Last season, Babatunde scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in the Qatar second-tier league. It was a performance that got his team Qatar FC promoted to the top league.
And Monday, he continued where he stopped last season as he netted two goals and provided two assists as Qatar FC trounced NK Roltek DOB 4-1 in a pre-season game in Slovenia.(SCORENigeria)
