Abia Warriors forward Sunday Adetunji has gone through "internal fixaton surgery" to help correct the fracture he suffered in his left arm during a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game recently.
Adetunji suffered the injury after he scored in his team's 4-2 win at Lobi Stars in a league game and had to be rushed to a teaching hospital in Makurdi for treatment.
He was later transferred to the hospital in Umuahia for further treatment and subsequent surgery.
The striker underwent the surgery at the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia this week.
Abia Warriors doctor Dr Enyinnaya Anozie explained that the broken bones in his left arm were successfully joined during the operation.
But he could not give an exact time frame the striker will make a return.
“It was an open reduction internal fixation surgery to join both ends of the broken bones and hold them in place and I’m very happy it was very successful,” Dr Anozie told the club's official website, abiawarriorsfc.com.
