Rohr impressed by CHAN Eagles Ifeanyi Ifeanyi

Despite the wobble by the CHAN Eagles in Benin at the weekend, Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has been impressed by several of the home-based national team stars led by Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Alhassan Ibrahim ‘Muazzam’.

Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali and goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye have also caught the eye of the Franco-German coach and they all stand a chance of making the squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

A top Eagles official informed SCORENigeria that MFM FC midfielder Ifeanyi Ifeanyi is now favourite to be called up by Rohr.

“When he was in Kano for the training camp he liked Ifeanyi Ifeanyi. He said he is not only intelligent, but also tactically disciplined,” the official revealed.

“He already knows ‘Muazzam’ from the Super Eagles training camp in France and the boy enhanced his ratings when he came on in Benin and did well with half an hour to play.”

Both Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and ‘Muazzam’ were in the Flying Eagles Class of 2015 and now feature for Akwa United in the NPFL.

Rabiu Ali, who is nicknamed ‘Pele’ by Pillars fans, and Dele Ajiboye have also interested the Eagles coach.

“Ajiboye has been awesome in the league for leaders Plateau United and with the goalkeepers overseas not exactly pulling their weight at their clubs, he could be considered for the Cameroon games,” the official further told SCORENigeria
