A proposed warm-up match involving CHAN Eagles and Kano Pillars has been called off because the NPFL side are engaged in the Aiteo Cup in midweek, officials informed SCORENigeria.
Pillars spokesman Idris Malikawa said there was a proposal for his team to test the readiness of the CHAN Eagles ahead of their return leg match on Saturday in Kano, but this has since been jettisoned.
“The proposal was for the match to be played before Wednesday, but with our cup engagement in Damaturu against hosts Yobe Desert Stars, this will no longer be possible,” he disclosed.
The home-based Eagles played two test games in Kano before their first leg CHAN playoff in Benin on Sunday.
They lost to their counterparts from Benin 1-0 and will now hope to avenge this defeat to qualify for next year’s CHAN in Kenya.
