NPFL hotshot Stephen Odey has jetted out of the country for trials in Sweden and was therefore conspicuously missing when the CHAN Eagles beat Kano Pillars Feeders team today in Kano, according to a report by SCORENigeria.
The medium said that Odey jetted out of the country so as to beat an August 11 transfer deadline in Sweden.“Yes, he is out to Europe on trials,” a team official said.
The 19-year-old striker has scored 18 goals thus far for title-chasing MFM FC and this will be his second attempt at moving overseas after an ill-fated adventure to Denmark earlier this year.
The paper reported that interest by perennial Scottish champions Celtic has cooled because they were far from happy about how MFM FC handled their approach for the player.
Among other things, Celtic had proposed a salary of 5,000 pounds-a-week for Odey.
