El-Kanemi Warriors attacking winger, Hussaini Bata is confident that his club can pull off a win at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe where they are expected to go toe to toe with Gombe United in a Northeast derby this Sunday.
The Maiduguri club will start Matchday 28 in fourth position on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table with 43 points, five less than league leaders Plateau United. But their Sunday game will not be against the table-toppers rather with a team battling for survival at the deep end of the log.
Gombe United do not sit pretty at all on the league ranking as they are second from bottom with 31 points, and they have not beaten their rivals since a 1-0 win in May 2013. Bata knows that record will count for nothing when they meet for the 12th time in the league since April 2004.
"We're well prepared because we're expecting to get something there. We're hoping to win. We'll try our best to make it happen."
Yes but we're doing everything possible to get another away point soon and this game comes at a time we can do so," Bata told npfl.ng.
The petite winger then doused talks that their four-nil defeat at Enyimba on Matchday 26 has taken the steam out of them. He explained"No that (defeat at Enyimba) didn't affect us because we'll continue doing what we have started and we have forgot that loss already," said Bata.
