Anderlecht chairman Vanden Stock has said the Belgian champions are poised for “something special” in the Champions League as they are a lot stronger going into the new season with the arrival of several new signings including Henry Onyekuru.
Onyekuru, 20, is on a season-long loan to Anderlecht from Premier League club Everton.
The Belgian champions had also tabled a bid to sign him, but always admitted they do not have the budget to compete with the Premier League clubs.
“With this team we can do something special in the Champions League,” tipped the confident 74-year-old Vanden Stock.“
I already believe we are on course to winning a 35th Belgian championship because I think we have an exceptional team now.
“We have made four major transfers already and we are prepared for the Champions League.“
Onyekuru scored 22 goals in the league last season with Eupen. And Teo (Lukasz Teodorczyk, joint top scorer with Onyekuru) looks set to stay and so we will already have 44 goals on the pitch.”
