Eagles partied too hard during weekend break alleges top official

By Daily Sports on June 14, 2017

A top official has specially told SCORENigeria that he believes a weekend break granted the Super Eagles on return from France undid the players against South Africa in an AFCON qualifier at the weekend.

After friendlies against Corsica and Togo in France, the team returned to Abuja and were given the weekend off before they returned to training camp.

“Most of the boys were not fit by the time they returned from the weekend break,” the official remarked.“And not much was done to knock them back into shape in time for the match against South Africa.

“They were treated as professional, but it seems they did not behave as such during the break.”

Checks revealed that a Premier League star, who started the game against Bafana Bafana, hosted his teammates to party in Abuja on arrival from Paris.

It will be noted that it is now off-season in Europe and most of the Super Eagles are now on holidays.

Eagles coach Gernot Rohr admitted in an interview after the 2-0 loss to South Africa that the players tired towards the end of the match.
