Rivers United have not given up hope of qualifying for the knockout stage of the Confederation as they believe winning their back-to-back home games will get them going in the competition.
On Saturday in Kampala, Rivers United lost their second game in Group A to KCCA of Uganda and they are now bottom of the standings on three points.
However, experienced coach Stanley Eguma said he believes they will bounce into reckoning by winning well their next two games both at home to KCCA and Club Africain of Tunisia.
“We have to win our two home games with goals because the goals at the end of the day will be the decider for those who will move ahead, that is the reason why we have to work on our attack and work on our scoring ability,” Eguma told SCORENigeria
“It’s really not good that our goal scoring ability is not enough and we have been working on that.
“We expect that we get our attackers to be clinical in front of goal.
“We lost some of our attackers in Uganda, players like Emeka Ogbugh, and one other player were not in that game because they were not in good health. We lost both of them and they are key members of the team.
“Even Bernard Ovoke was not there, these are players who we hope will come back in the return leg to fire up the attack and enable us get goals and victories.”
