CAF readies to issue Pro Licence

By Stephen Amos on April 21, 2017

The Confederation of African Football is nearing another milestone with the award of Pro Licence certificates to trained coaches on the continent.

Currently, African football’s highest level of coaches’ qualification is the Licence A.

CAF’s Technical Directorate had tentatively set July 2017 to begin training coaches to attain the about-to-be certified professional licence.

CAF could put a finality to its curriculum at a one-week workshop in Cameroon, beginning April 24.

“We don’t have the Pro-Licence in the whole of Africa,” said Ghana’s Oti Akenteng, one of CAF’s elite technical instructors.

“We’ve already met UEFA representatives, FIFA, AFC – about 10 of CAF’s instructors met these reps in Cameroon sometime in December [2016]. We went there to look at the content of Pro-licence but we didn’t get CONCACAF…”

“We did a lot of deliberation on it and the content was set. We also needed to know the hours and the months to be used. We did all these and we are going to fine-tune from the 24-30th April. Almost all the elite instructors are expected to be in Cameroon to do that,” he elaborated. © supersport.com
