Miserable Rangers crash out of Confederation Cup after 0-3 thrashing in Zambia

By Daily Sports on April 16, 2017

John Ching’andu’s brace plus Jesse Were’s strike were all Team Ya Ziko needed to send the Flying Antelopes crashing from the CAF Confederation Cup competition, on Saturday in Zambia

Zesco United matched their 2-2 draw with Enugu Rangers to inflict a 5-2 aggregate pummelling upon the embattled reigning Nigeria champions at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The Flying Antelopes were sent packing from the CAF Champions League having crashed 5-3 after two legs to Zamalek to ensure that they drop down into the Caf Confederation Cup.

In the first leg, they were held at home – a result which cost Coach Imama Amapakabo his job. However, efforts to make amends for their pitiable performance at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium proved futile in Ndola as they let in three goals.

John Ching’andu’s brace did the damage while Jesse Were had the last word just after the hour, profiting from a disorganised backline to score, but Rangers' hopes had long since been extinguished.

With this, they will return home to rescue their fading fortunes in the Nigeria Professional Football League. They sit at the base of the log with 13 points from 14 matches.
