The Nigeria Under-21 male and female beach volleyball teams have qualified for the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball Under-21 World Championship.
Maikano Adamu, the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Championship is scheduled to hold in Nanjing, China from June 13 to June 18.
Nigerian teams competed against teams from Egypt, Mozambique, Morocco, Sudan, South Africa, Congo and Togo in the final leg of the qualifier in Cairo, Egypt between March 29 and April 3.
He said five countries had also qualified in both male and female categories.
Adamu listed the countries to include: Nigeria, Egypt, Mozambique, Morocco, and Congo for the male category, and Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Mozambique and Morocco for the female.
According to him, the NVBF should be commended for making efforts to camp the teams to fine-tune their preparations for the qualifiers.
Nigeria started campaigning for the tickets at the Zone Three qualifiers, which held in Lome, Togo in February.
The teams competed against teams from Togo, Ghana and Benin Republic, with Nigeria parading two teams each in both the male and female categories. (NAN)
