Mikel shoots club to victory with first Chinese Super League goal

By Daily Sports on April 3, 2017

John Obi Mikel scored in Tianjin Teda’s 2-0 victory over Chongqing Lifan in a Chinese Super League encounter on Sunday.

Mikel started the encounter alongside compatriot, Brown Ideye, who was making his second league appearance.

The Nigeria international broke the deadlock in the 48th minute and an 82nd-minute own goal from Goran Milovic saw Jaime Pacheco’s side claim their first victory of the season.

While the 29-year-old was on parade for the entire duration of the game, Ideye was replaced by Wang Dong in the 65th minute.

The win over Woe-Ryong Chang’s men put the Tianjin Tigers in ninth position with four points from their opening three Chinese topflight fixtures.
