Ajiboye, Boboye handed NPFL bans

By Daily Sports on March 17, 2017

Plateau United duo Dele Ajiboye and Kennedy Boboye were on Thursday given suspensions from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The two men were given bans from the Nigeria top flight by the League Management Company (LMC) following their roles in an altercation that occurred during a league game at 3SC on 5 March.

Former Nigeria under-17 goalkeeper Ajiboye was hit with a one-match suspension "for displaying behaviour capable of inciting others through his verbal altercation with 3SC supporters during the #NPFL Matchday 12 game."

Ajiboye will now miss the top-of-the-table clash with MFM FC at the Agege Stadium in Lagos this Sunday.

Plateau United head coach Boboye was however handed a three-match touchline ban with two of them suspended subject to good conduct for the rest of the NPFL season.

He will start his touchline ban this Sunday when his team faces MFM FC.

Boboye was also fined N100 000 for breaching the Code of Conduct for Managers and Coaches in the NPFL Framework and Rules.

General manager of 3SC, Rasheed Balogun, was also sanctioned for his role in the fracas in Ibadan. According to the LMC, Balogun breached the Code of Conduct for Club Officials of the #NPFL Framework & Rules.

Balogun, charged for encroaching the technical area, was fined N200 000.

Kano Pillars head coach Kadiri Ikhana was also sanctioned after the LMC stated that he "failed to conduct himself in a professional manner during the Plateau United versus Kano Pillars #NPFL Matchday 13 game by publicly criticising the match officials."

Ikhana was also fined N200 000 for breaching the league rules.

Ajiboye, Boboye, Balogun and Ikhana have till Friday to appeal the sanctions imposed on them. (© supersport.com)
