By Daily Sports on March 16, 2017

El-Kanemi FC of Maiduguri has emphatically said it has off set the N3 million debt it owed its former coach Kelechi Emeteole who has been diagnosed with throat cancer and has been sourcing funds to settle medical bills.

According to a statement by the club’s Media Manager, Prince Anthony Obaseki, the club and the state government were touched by the condition of the ex-international and coach hence it made the quick move to join forces with people that do not want the meticulous tactician to die.

“We are praying that he come out of this life threatening sickness. Emeteole will no doubt survive this. What is needed is that all hands should be on deck. We should rally round him. El-Kanemi FC will be in the forefront for the crusade to save him,” the statement added.

Obaseki used the opportunity to call on well-meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to come out and identify with Emeteole in this his hour of need. He further appealed to clubs that owe him, to quickly pay up without further delay.
