Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has called on the club’s supporters to get behind the team when they face Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Madrid fans have expressed their dissatisfaction in recent weeks following the club’s run of just one victory from five games in all competitions.
The European champions currently sit one point clear of second-placed Barcelona at the top of La Liga, having played two games less than their rivals, and they can extend that lead when they welcome Sociedad to the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Above all, we want the fans to support us in order to help make us a better team and I’m convinced that together we can win La Liga,” Ramos told Marca.
“It is going to be a tough game against a very difficult opponent who have played very good football this season and are deservedly near the top of the table.”
Madrid forward Lucas Vazquez also feels the club’s supporters have a key role to play against Sociedad on Sunday evening.
“Playing in front of our own fans always gives us an extra gear because every time they applaud and encourage us it drives us on even more,” Lucas said.
“With all of us together, pushing in the same direction, then I’m convinced that we can achieve great things. (NAN)
