Uzoenyi quits Sundowns

By Daily Sports on January 11, 2017

Former Enugu Rangers winger Ejike Uzoenyi has parted ways with South African Premier League side Mamelodi Sundowns by mutual consent.

The diminutive player was signed on by the PSL side on the back of an impressive showing at the 2014 Africa Nations Championship (Chan) held in South Africa but has found the going tough.

He was unable to crack the Sundowns first team and has only made eight appearances in two and a half years at the club.

Uzoenyi has been in Nigeria, training in Enugu with a view to a move after his representative Mohammed Lawal confirmed to supersport.com that the 24-year-old has finally quit Sundowns.

“Yes, it is true Ejike (Uzoenyi) has terminated his contract with Sundowns. He is a free agent now and we are working on something for him,” Lawal, a former Nigeria under-23 international, said.

“He will be back on the pitch very soon and back to his best I can assure of that.” (supersport.com)
