Army officer spies for Wikki Tourists on Confed Cup foes

By Daily Sports on January 6, 2017

Nigeria’s flag bearers in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup, Wikki Tourists have hired a top army officer to give them a complete dossier on first round foes RSLAF FC.

The Wikki spy spent several years in Sierra Leone as a member of the Nigerian peace keeping forces to the West African country.

A top member of the management team at the Bauchi club said that the fact RSLAF FC are an armed forces team, necessitated the move to get someone who has worked closely with the team recently.

“RSLAF FC are owned by the Armed Forces of Sierra Leone, hence the need to get someone who is close to their Armed Forces and who also knows football to analyse them very well,” said the official.

“He offered to stand in the gap for us because he has spent so many years in that country and has a good knowledge of Sierra Leonean football.”

He added: “We were constrained to go the extra mile because our coach is new to the team, and he has no prior knowledge of RSLAF FC.”

RSLAF FC were founced in 2000 by the hierarchy of the Sierra Leonean Armed Forces. In 2005, they were in the county’s second-tier league. In 2008, they got promoted to the Sierra Leonean first division under the late coach Issa Bangura.

In 2013, they finally won promotion to the country’s premier league and emerged runners up in their debut season. (mtnfootball.com)
