'Arsenal should sell Ozil... they've got Wilshere!'

By Daily Sports on December 8, 2016

Former Chelsea coach, Ray Wilkins says that Arsenal can solve their Mesut Ozil contract problems - by letting the Germany midfielder go and replace him with Jack Wilshere.

Ozil has been linked with a move away from the Emirates due to the fact he has yet to agree a contract extension, and Wilkins believes the club should let him leave rather than give into his demands.

Wilkins has backed Wilshere to replace the 28-year-old in the Gunners midfield when he returns from his loan at Bournemouth.

"I’d bring Jack Wilshere back and let Ozil go," Wilkins told talkSPORT.

"I think Jack is thoroughly enjoying himself at Bournemouth. He is actually playing week in, week out and you can see progress he is making.

"Thankfully he is over the injury problems he has had in the past.

"I think Jack Wilshere could be the equal of Ozil, if not better.

"He has a total commitment around the pitch. Ozil has wonderful touches but when he plays against the big teams sometimes you see him go missing."

Wilshere has started 10 Premier League games since joining the Cherries on loan, proving his fitness after featuring in just three league games for the Gunners last season.(goal.com)
