Ghana coach Avram Grant has shrugged off questions over his future and says he wants to take the team to Africa Cup of Nations glory in 2017.
The Israeli has come in for criticism following Ghana’s poor recent performances. The Black Stars notably lost to Egypt on the weekend to put their hopes of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in danger.
The Ghana FA was set to discuss the coach’s future in their next executive meeting, but Grant says he would rather focus on the upcoming AFCON.
“Yes, we have the African Cup. Our target is very clear. I always want to finish my contract. Our contract is the African Cup that was two years and three months,” Grant told Metro TV.
”I want to win the African Cup. It will not be easy – there’re other good teams but this is possible and I want to do it.
”In football you cannot think beyond two, three months. Two, three months too much. Let’s do what we need to do at the African Cup and then we think about what’s next.”
