One year after the then Premier League side, FC Taraba players stages a protest, sleeping by the gate of the Government House for several days to demand their 13 months unpaid salaries, the players are back there again.
The players and their female counterparts commenced a peaceful protest at the Government House to once again demand the payment of their 11 months salaries.
“You may want to know that the government of Taraba State never leaved up to their words to pay the last season players after they were only paid two months of their salary after the mother of all demonstration, promising to pay the remaining in an arranged manner.
“You may also want to know that throughout this season, the players have not received even a month salary since the beginning of this season in the Nigeria National League campaign.
“This is even after promising the League management Company (LMC) and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) who had hitherto banned them at the beginning of the season to pay the salaries.
“Players and officials of FC Taraba including the women team are the worst treated in the Nations football. Today’s protest is just a warning one, as the players have vowed that should the government refuse to pay them, they would resort to sleeping at the gate of the government house till all their money is paid. The players call on Nigeria media, NFF, LMC and NNL to come to their aid as it is not a sin to play football in Nigeria,” an official said.
