Algeria’ll be tougher than Zambia, predicts Rohr

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has predicted today’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria will be a tougher game than last month’s win in Zambia.

Nigeria won 2-1 in Ndola last month to shoot to the top of their qualifying group and they continue the qualifying campaign on Saturday at home to Algeria, who were forced to a 1-1 draw at home by Cameroon.

“We have a team who want to win the game, we know it will be difficult because Algeria is a big team, but we believe in our chances,” Rohr told reporters after his team’s final training in Uyo Friday evening.

“It will be a different game because Algeria is different, a different style of football. We have monitored them and we know what they can do.

“It will be difficult, we perhaps must have patience before we can score.

“This is the moment to make the second step to the World Cup.”

He added: “There is no doubt, no fear. Never.

“We know that Algeria are a good team, we respect them, but we also have a very good team.

“The players are fit and confident and we hope to have a good game just as we did in Zambia.

“So, we will go to this game with full confidence, with big determination.”

He said he expects the Eagles to be more efficient in front of goal than they were against Tanzania when they threw away several begging chances before a late wonder strike by Kelechi Iheanacho.

“We have already played here against Tanzania, but we must be much more efficient now and I hope to be ready tomorrow,” he charged. (mtnfootball.com)
