Coach Abdu Maikaba has said he hopes to win the Nigeria premier league with new club Akwa United.
The former Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Wikki Tourists coach made this declaration when he was presented to the media today in Uyo.
"My target is to win the league, having finished third and second respectively in the past, so I want to win the league with Akwa United," he declared.
"I left Wikki for Akwa because Akwa are an ambitious club. I look for a place that can push me to do more and Akwa have got the facilities and resources to help me reach my goal.
"In Wikki I am still owed some bonuses, but Akwa have paid all their outstanding allowances, that's the kind of team I want to work with and I promise to give it my best.
“The fans are peaceful and passionate.”
Akwa United's only major trophy was the 2015 Federation Cup.
He further said he will be cautious in his recruitment for his new team, while encouraging young players.
"I came to Akwa United to first see what they have on ground, I am not in a haste to bring in new players, I want to be careful in my selection in order to achieve my target with Akwa,” he said.
“But I can't rule out bringing in some of my players from Wikki, this will help in passing my philosophy to the new group, but that should not be more than one or two.
"I will also encourage young players to grow in the team.
"I have been given free hand to choose my players and I need this support to succeed." (superpsort.com)
