Foreign coaches jostle for Kano Pillars top post

Several foreign coaches have applied to handle Nigeria premier league club Kano Pillars, according to new chairman Tukur Babangida.

The Slovenian Ivo Sajh led Pillars to the semi-finals of the 2009 CAF Champions League, while Ghanaian coach Malik Jaber also handled the club.

Pillars are without a coach after Mohammed Babaganaru quit at the end of the past season.

“We have received applications from coaches in Nigeria and overseas,” disclosed Babangida.

“Very soon we will go through these applications. We hope to then interview the short listed coaches very soon.”

Babangida is back in his second spell as Pillars boss and he admitted he is under pressure to meet the huge expectations on the club.

“I have done it before but the expectations are high from the fans and from the people of Kano State,” he lamented.

“I don’t have a technical adviser now and I don't have a team while others have a technical adviser.

“We have two immediate objectives - getting a technical adviser and sign committed players and the technical adviser is our first priority.” (mtnfootball.com)
