The management of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football club of Lagos has denied reports in some sections of the media that their chairman Godwin Enakhena and some others have been sacked.
According to the club’s media officer, Olawale Quadry, the General Overseer and financier of the club, Daniel Olukoya held separate meetings with the players and officials last week in his office, where he expressed his disappointment with the performance of the team and called for a better outing next season.
Enakhena in his response said: "Truth is that Dr Olukoya had a meeting with all of us, players and officials of the team last week Tuesday and Wednesday in his office.
“Expectedly, he wasn't happy that MFM FC barely survived the drop. He charged the boys and the management to up their game next season and avoid listening to rumours and so many other sundry issues which are meant to distract them from facing the task at hand.
"The G O also said that indisciplined players and officials will be weeded out while he will announce in the church for members with football knowledge to come forward in other to strengthen the management led by me to have a better outing next season."
Enakhena also revealed that the head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, remains with the team for next season.
"Our head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu remains with us. MFM FC is one big Christian family. We had our ups and downs last season and the good part is that we survived the drop,” the veteran sports journalist explained.
“MFM FC are just seven months old in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). Lessons learnt will stand us in good stead next season. We are presently on break after a hectic season and all will fall in place when we resume by the first week of November." (mtnfootball.com)
