Akwa United sack Cooreman, Dokubo after dismal season

By Daily Sports on October 21, 2016

The management of Akwa United has disengaged the services of coaches Maurice Cooreman and Ere Dokubo after the Promise Keepers’ failure to qualify for any Caf Inter Club competition at the end of the past soccer season.

In a release by the club, the management wasn’t comfortable with the spate of disciplinary issues that was Cooreman stock in trade while with them which has resulted in multiple suspensions and queries to the detriment of the club.

“We have sacked coaches Cooreman and Dokubo. We asked Cooreman to go because of his disciplinary issues which earned him over one suspension while Dokubo is a victim of the ongoing re-organization to ensure that Akwa United bounce back impressively next season.”

Under the tutelage of both coaches, Akwa United ended the season 14th on the log with 47 points from 36 matches and were beaten in the quarter final of the Federation Cup by finalists, Nasarawa United. (NAN)
