Flamingoes’ duo handed U20 call-ups

By Daily Sports on October 18, 2016

Ahead of next month's FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea, Coach Peter Dedevbo has invited to the Falconets’ camp two members of the Flamingoes squad that participated in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan.

The players are Captain Rasheedat Ajibade of FC Robo, who made her second appearance at the U17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan, and central defender Catherine Kenneth from Rivers Angels.

Ajibade and Kenneth have already joined the rest of other invited Falconets players at the Serob Legacy Hotel camp, Abuja. Speaking on their invitation, Dedevbo said he decided to extend his dragnet to the duo because he was impressed with their output in the Nigeria U17 women team in Jordan.

"I watched Rasheedat and Catherine during their tournament and I liked the way they played. I think they did very well despite the Flamingoes’ early exit at the World Cup. I intend to take a closer look at them during training sessions because I believe that they can fit into my plans for the World Cup,” Dedevbo said.

Meanwhile, the Falconets were on Sunday evening held to a 1-1 draw by Eaglesnet Logistics Academy in a friendly match at the FIFA Goal Project pitch, Abuja.

Chinaza Uchendu put the Falconets ahead in the 22nd minute, before Dele Femi levelled for Eaglesnet through a goal –mouth scramble. (thenff.com)
