The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in conjunction with HS Media Group, a leader in Sports Marketing conglomerate in Nigeria, on Tuesday October 4th, 2016 unveiled African Female Player of the Year (2014), Asisat Lamina Oshoala (MON) as the ‘Face of 2016 Women Federation Cup’.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Sports Bar of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere – Lagos. The unveiling ceremony yesterday according the NFF and HS Media Group has kick started the chain of activities lined up for this year’s Women Federation Cup final, which comes up later this month in Lagos.
During the press briefing, it was revealed that the Arsenal Ladies of England striker will grace the final in Lagos, and will use the occasion to hand-out signed jerseys and other football items to fans and participating teams in the final at the stadium to ginger up younger ones.
According to HS Media and the NFF the benevolent gesture is in tune with Oshoala’s heart desire to promote the game at the grassroots and help the future generation of young Nigerian players, particularly, ladies who are aspiring to attain the greatest heights in their careers.
The Arsenal lady won the Women Federation Cup twice in 2013 and 2014 with Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt and has expressed her pleasure at being picked the ‘Face of 2016 Women Federation Cup.’ She promised to work towards bringing back the glory days to the tournament.
“I am prepared to join hands with the Nigeria Football Federation to rekindle the passion and bring back the crowd for this age-old competition in Nigeria,” she said.
