By Daily Sports on September 20, 2016

El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri at the weekend defeated visiting Heartland FC Owerri by a lone goal scored by Ibrahim Mustapha, who now has ten goals so far in the 2016 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

Speaking after the game in the Borno State capital, an excited Mustapha said: “In fact, the most important thing is not the number of goals but the full points which have moved us up the table. I must thank my team mates for the fighting spirit.”

Continuing, the El-Kanemi Warriors leading goal scorer said: “You see, I set a target for myself to end the season among the top scorers or even win the highest goal scorer award, but my goals could not increase but I missed some matches but thank God I am back.

“I see myself scoring in the remaining matches but all I am after now is for us to end the league in a good position. Thanks to my coaches and the fans for their support. El-Kanemi for life!”
