Struggling English Premiership side, Watford have acquired the services of another Nigerian striker, Stefano Okaka. The 27-old striker was snapped from Anderlecht to boost the attacking options of Manager Walter Mazarri’s team.
Okaka brings to three, the number of strikers of Nigerian parentage that are donning Watford’s colours in the English Barclay’s Premiership. Okaka teamed up with Odion Ighalo and this season’s £12million record signing, Isaac Success as his compatriots.
Okaka, however, is an Italian international having made his debut for the Italian national team under current Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte in 2014.
He made his debut as a substitute replacing Sebastian Giovinco in the second half, and scored the winning goal at Sampdoria’s ground, the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in friendly game against Albania.
Born in Castiglione del Lago, Umbria, Italy to Nigerian parents who later obtained Italian citizenship, Okaka joined the Roma youth system in 2004. He was a part of the team that won the Under-20 national title in 2005 and scored goals against Juventus in the semi-final and Atalanta in the final.
