Edo Queens get home support ahead CAF qualifiers

By Daily Sports Nigeria on August 22, 2026

Edo Queens have received a major show of support ahead of their campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifiers in Burkina Faso, with the club’s chairman, Chief Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, calling for prayers across Edo State for the team’s success.

Tenebe said he had booked Masses in all Catholic churches across the state for the team, while urging other Christian denominations and Muslim communities to join in seeking divine intervention for the players and officials.

“I have booked a Mass for Edo Queens in all Catholic churches across Edo State, praying for victory and success as our girls embark on this important journey to Burkina Faso,” Tenebe said.

He described Edo Queens as ambassadors of the state and Nigeria, stressing that their campaign was not only about football but also an opportunity to showcase Edo’s sporting talent on the continental stage, and called on churches and mosques across the state to join in the prayers.

“We want our girls to know that the entire state is behind them. Edo Queens are not going to Burkina Faso alone. They are carrying the hopes and aspirations of Edo people and, indeed, representing Nigeria,” he said.

The chairman appealed to Edo indigenes at home and abroad to continue supporting the team throughout the competition, and specifically urged those living in Burkina Faso to attend the matches.

“If you are in Burkina Faso, we hope to see you at the stadium. Your presence, your voices and your support can make a difference,” Tenebe said.

Tenebe urged the players to remain focused, disciplined and determined as they confront strong opposition in Burkina Faso, assuring them of the continued backing of the club’s leadership.

“Our message to the players is simple: go out there, play with courage, discipline and determination. Let us stand together for our girls. We want Edo Queens to return home victorious,” he added.
