Cristiano Ronaldo has once again underlined his status as one of football’s greatest players, extending a remarkable list of records spanning club and international football, as well as social media.

Even in his forties, the Portugal captain continues to add to a legacy that has seen him dominate the sport for more than two decades.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner remains the all-time leading scorer in men’s international football and holds numerous UEFA Champions League and UEFA European Championship records.

At club level, Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer and became the first player to score at least 50 league goals in England’s Premier League, Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A and Saudi Arabia’s Pro League.

Off the pitch, Ronaldo continues to break records for his global popularity. After launching his YouTube channel in August 2024, he amassed more than 19 million subscribers within 24 hours, while he remains the most-followed person on Instagram.

According to a post obtained on Friday from MSN.com, Microsoft’s web portal for news, weather, sports, finance, entertainment, lifestyle and other online services, the following are some of Ronaldo’s record-breaking achievements:

Launched a YouTube channel that surpassed 19 million subscribers within 24 hours (August 2024), according to Guinness World Records.

Became the most-followed person on Instagram, with more than 677 million followers.

The all-time leading scorer in men’s senior football, with 976 official career goals.

Holds the record for the most international appearances in men’s football, with 233 caps.

Holds the record for the most goals in men’s international football, with 146 goals.

Is Portugal’s youngest and oldest FIFA World Cup goalscorer.

Holds the record for the most hat-tricks by an active player, with 66.

Became the first player to score 10 international hat-tricks.

Holds the record for the most UEFA Champions League appearances, with 183 matches.

Is the UEFA Champions League’s all-time leading scorer, with 140 goals.

Scored a record 17 goals in a single UEFA Champions League season (2013/14).

Holds the record for the most goals in UEFA Champions League knockout-stage matches, with 67.

Is the only player to score in three UEFA Champions League finals.

Is the only player to score in 11 consecutive UEFA Champions League matches.

Holds the record for the most appearances in UEFA club competitions, with 197 matches.
