NWFL Super Six: Edo Queens’ chances still bright – Enabulele

By Daily Sports Nigeria on June 8, 2026

Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Amadin Enabulele, on Monday said that Edo Queens still have a chance of winning the Nigeria Women Football League Super Six competition despite the shocking 1-0 loss to Nasarawa Amazon on the opening day at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Today, the Edo team will take on FC Robo who are also without a point after losing 3-2 to host River Angels, which makes the encounter a must-win for the Queens.

However, Enabulele, who spoke to the PUNCH in a telephone interview on Monday, said that the redemption for his team begins today and noted that a win would boost his team’s ambition of winning the Super Six.

He noted that while the loss to Nasarawa Amazon was unfortunate, the onus is on his team to address the loss with a win against FC Robo.

He said, “I spoke to the players yesterday and I urged them to quickly put behind them their disappointing defeat to Nasarawa Amazons in the opening match of the ongoing Super Six competition.

“The result is an unexpected setback but the team remains focused on achieving its objectives in the tournament. The defeat was not the outcome the club had anticipated, but dwelling on the loss would not help the team’s campaign. It was a result we never expected, but we have to move on. We still have four more matches to play, and our attention is now on today’s game against FC Robo.

“The game begins by 3pm and I am assuring supporters that the players are determined to bounce back strongly. We are playing our third game against Abia Angels and we are going out for victory.

“The players understand what is at stake, and they are ready to fight for the maximum points. Despite the early setback, we still have four matches to be played and we are optimistic about the club’s chances of winning the Super Six title. the championship race remains wide open.”

Enabulele expressed belief that Edo Queens can still win the remaining four matches and emerge champions, adding, “Football is full of surprises, and we have the quality, determination, and experience to turn things around.

“We are looking to revive our title ambitions when we face FC Robo, knowing that a victory could reignite our quest for NWFL Super Six glory.”
