Enugu Rangers Wins State Federations Cup, Defeat In Gas FC 2-1, In Finals

RANGERS International Football Club of Enugu on Saturday defeated Ingas FC also of Enugu by 2-1, in the Finals of the 2026 Enugu State President Federation’s Cup.

The first half of the match played at the Rangers practicing pitch, saw both teams come out trying to out-wit each other.

However, Rangers, fielding mostly fringe players, took the lead in the 17th minutes through Mich Itodo, off a long throw-in.

After the goal, Rangers continued their dominance but met a stout resistance from the Inga’s defence and a brilliant goalkeeping.

Ingas later took control of the match toward the dying minutes of the half but Rangers keeper aided by rainfall denied them of getting an equilizer.

On resumption of the second half in a rain-soaked encounter, the two teams tried to control the game.

Rangers consolidated their lead in the 50th minutes by Igwe Nweke, through a goal mouth scramble.

Shortly after, in the 52 minutes, Ingas pulled one back through a spot kick.

Speaking after the match, Innocent Obiekwu, Coach of Ingas and ex-Rangers star congratulated Rangers for emerging champions.

“I am part of Rangers; I congratulate them for wining the game.

“My boys did very well, I congratulate them too,” he said.

Rangers General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, on his own, described the win as a double victory.

The state FA Chairman, Tony Ugwu, congratulated both teams and urged them to represent Enugu State well in the president federations cup 2026.

The two teams have now qualified to represent Enugu State in the finals of the 2026 president federation’s cup.
