Fulham are set to permanently sign Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze from AC Milan for a fee of up to €28m, with the London club having communicated their intention to exercise their purchase option to the Italian giants, according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Chukwueze has enjoyed a remarkable turnaround at Craven Cottage since joining on loan last summer, rediscovering the form that made him one of the most coveted wingers in Europe during his time at Villarreal after two disappointing seasons at the San Siro.
His agent has already informed Milan of Fulham’s provisional decision to make the deal permanent, though the club are awaiting formal confirmation before finalising their summer planning.
The base fee is understood to be €24m, rising to €28m with bonuses — a figure that will provide Milan with funds to reinvest in the transfer market. The Rossoneri had anticipated the loan move could serve as a showcase to revive Chukwueze’s career, and that calculation has proved correct.
The 26-year-old has thrived at Fulham alongside international teammates Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi, registering three goals and four assists in 17 Premier League appearances.
The highlight of his spell was a brace against Manchester City in December, which underlined his quality when given consistent opportunities and the freedom to express himself.
Chukwueze has already indicated to Fulham’s management that he would be happy to remain at the club next season.
The winger is currently on international duty with the Super Eagles for the friendly matches against Iran and Jordan in Antalya, Turkey, alongside Bassey and Iwobi.
