Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has started the process of improving the team after their third place finish at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
The coach will remain as the coach of the team despite offers from elsewhere with promises of a better salary package. He has already started work on getting new players for the team.
Sources say the coach has already gotten a new goalkeeper in Wrexham’s goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who is expected to be a part of the team for the AFCON qualifiers when it begins in March.
Okonkwo has been granted clearance by FIFA to play for Nigeria, and the 24 year old who has made 26 appearances in the English Championship, will be the main challenger to Stanley Nwabali.
