AFCON: ‘Good job’ – Calvin Bassey hails three Super Eagles players for organizing everyone

By DailySports Nigeria on January 9, 2026

Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey has hailed three Super Eagles players for organizing everyone in the team following their emphatic 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the AFCON Round of 16 tie on Monday.

Nigeria recorded a crucial victory against the Mambas, thanks to Victor Osimhen’s two goals and one goal each from Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams, respectively.

However, Bassey specifically acknowledged the contributions of goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and defender Semi Ajayi, along with his own efforts, in effectively coordinating the Super Eagles’ defensive unit, which resulted in a clean sheet against Mozambique.

In a post-match interview after the match, Bassey told reporters in Morocco, “Semi, Stanley, and I did a good job of organizing everyone.

“We had conceded late in both previous games [against Uganda and Tunisia], around the 70th minute. So, everyone’s got to stay focused.”
