It was a carnival of a sort as the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) led by its National Chairman, Prince Vincent Okumagba, were on hand to receive the bronze-winning U-23 Olympic Eagles team that arrived the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, from the just-concluded Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

Mascot were on hand       The team touched down at exactly 8pm Nigerian time and met Prince Okumagba, who was detailed to be on hand to receive the country’s only medal winners at the 2016 Olympics. Okumagba was on ground with a large number of NFSC chiefs and members who were drumming and dancing to the delight and cheers of the crowd who occupied every available space outside the arrival hall of the airport, eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of the team.

The Supporters Club in their usual dutiful character electrified the whole arena with their soulful renditions to the delight of even the gun-totting law enforcement agencies that joined to dance to the melodious tunes.

Equally on hand were sports journalists who took vintage positions to await Coach Samson Siasia and his boys.

Then came the much-awaited hour and behold, the team made a triumphant entry from the tarmac into the arrival hall, then into their air-conditioned bus, with Prince Okumagba leading the pack with some of his executive members, guiding Siasia, Assistant Coach Fatai Amoo, the players and other officials of the team into the warm embrace of the cheering crowd as the Supporters Club increased the intensity of their drumming and singing.
