Ex-UFC champ, Garcia warn Paul against Joshua fight

Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and boxing star Ryan Garcia have issued stark warnings to Jake Paul ahead of his December 19 showdown with Anthony Joshua.

“Did you see the size difference between Anthony and Jake? Did you see how f**king huge that guy is? 6’6, 265,” O’Malley said on his YouTube channel. “This fight, as a friend of Jake, is like, I’m scared.”

The ex-UFC champion expressed deep concern about potential consequences, saying, “Getting knocked out by someone like that changes lives. It doesn’t change just your career path. It can change lives. It can change the way you think. Getting knocked out, bad concussions are scary.”

O’Malley added he would consider it a victory if Paul simply survives the distance, “If Jake goes to a decision and loses a decision to A.J., I think that’s a win. That’s a massive win.”

Boxing star Garcia, who is preparing for a title fight against Mario Barrios, told the Emily Austin show he hopes Joshua “sleeps” (knocks out) Paul, adding he believes the YouTuber-turned-boxer “will run into a lot of pain on the night.”

Paul steps up significantly in competition when he faces the 2012 Olympic gold medalist and two-time unified world champion at the Kaseya Centre in Miami, Florida. The fight will stream live on Netflix.

The bout was arranged after Paul’s originally scheduled exhibition against Gervonta “Tank” Davis was cancelled following a domestic violence lawsuit filed against Davis.
