By Daily Sports Nigeria on September 10, 2025

The Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, will host the grand finale of the 19th edition of the Lagos State Head of Service Games, which is currently ongoing among all the ministries, departments and agencies in the state.

Participating MDAs are competing for honours in football, tug-of-war, tennis, table tennis, scrabble, chess, ayo, drought, and the event will also include a walk for fitness.

The preliminary rounds of events in the games are being held at designated facilities in Ikeja, the state’s capital.

Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, kicked off the event at the Lagos State Rehabilitation Centre, Isheri-Berger, where the Public Service Office Female Football team walloped their counterparts from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital 3-0.

Agoro said the primary objectives of the HOS Games are to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and comradeship, as well as promote the culture of physical fitness and mental wellness amongst public servants in the state.

He further revealed that the organising committee is working on a new model that will be unveiled later this year, aimed at giving the competition a fresh outlook in the coming edition.

Also, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, who doubles as the Vice Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Mrs Sunkanmi Oyegbola, said the state government is thrilled that agencies are participating in the competition, stressing that the event is about sportsmanship, physical exercise and the well-being of staff.
