Nigeria’s Female Yellow Greens endured a challenging day in Windhoek on Monday as hosts Namibia claimed an eight-wicket victory in their second group game of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 1 Qualifier, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Female Yellow Greens began their campaign with an impressive 96-run win over Sierra Leone on Sunday, but faltered with the ball on bat against the hosts, who got their first win of the series.

Batting first, Nigeria was restricted to 70 runs in 18.4 overs, with key contributions from Salome Sunday (22 runs off 28 balls), Oseyande Omonkhobhio (14 off 11 balls), and Kehinde Amusa (12 off 34 balls).

Namibia’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings, led by Saima Tahaduleni (three wickets for 13 runs), Kayleen Green (two wickets for 10 runs), and Mekelanye Mwatile (two wickets for 16 runs).

In response, Namibia chased down the target with ease, finishing at 71/2 in 9.5 overs.

Yasmeen Khan top-scored with a commanding 51 off 30 balls, supported by Green’s 15 off 20 balls, while Mwatile remained unbeaten on 4.

Nigeria managed two wickets through Kehinde Amusa (one wicket for 10 runs) and Lilian Ude (one wicket for 14 runs)

Despite the result, Nigeria remained second in the group with two points, two behind leaders Zimbabwe, who beat Namibia by 32 runs on Sunday before running over Sierra Leone by 10 wickets on Monday.

Nigeria will face Zimbabwe in the last group game on Wednesday in a potential group decider.

The top two teams in each group will proceed to the semi-finals, while the finalists will pick Africa’s two slots to the global qualifiers, which come up later this year.
