Oshoala’s Bay FC set NWSL stadium record

By Daily Sports Nigeria on August 25, 2025

Asisat Oshoala’s American club, Bay FC, set the National Women’s Soccer League attendance record as they drew more than 40,000 fans against the Washington Spirit at Oracle Park on Saturday.

Oshoala was an unused substitute in the game, but her compatriot, Gift Monday, came off the bench for the visitors.

The NWSL witnessed unprecedented attendance of 40,061 fans packed into the San Francisco Giants stadium when Bay FC hosted the Washington Spirit.

The Spirit jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but Bay FC mounted a comeback, scoring twice to create a tense finish as the visitors ultimately held on for a 3-2 victory.

The previous standalone NWSL attendance record was established just last year when 35,038 fans watched Bay FC face the Chicago Stars at Wrigley Field.

Bay FC will look to build on the momentum generated despite their 3-2 loss to the Washington Spirit when they face Angel City FC on the road on September 1, followed by a home game against KC Current on September 6.
