SOME OF THE LAWYERS CALLED TO BAR

By Daily Sports Nigeria on July 21, 2025

The ceremony that took place at the Body of Benchers Complex, Jabi Abuja, 10th July , 2025. The Call to BAR ceremony involving over 1,900 fresh Lawyers who satisfied the BAR and obtained First and Second Class Degrees was well attended. 8th and 9th July were equally set aside for other "learned gentlemen" with Lower Credits. It was a commendable occasion attended by over 4,000 guests including the Graduans, Relatives and Governmental officials. The highest crowd that I have so far witnessed in the recent past.

However, the Body of Benchers Complex indeed without enough "Benches" and more spacious arena despite that the guests attended strictly by invitation.  A good number of the attendees who witnessed the occasion from various states, perched outside the event hall. Although the environment was very conducive. The gentlemen of the press were equally there, believedly represented the interests of the public.

The speaker is the current Chairman of the Body of Benchers in the person of Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, during his introductory speeches. He was unanimously endorsed as the Chairman after Justice Mary Odili completed her tenure of office. Chief Awomolo's leadership said focuses on upholding the highest standards of Justice, Integrity, and professionalism within the Legal Profession in Nigeria.

At the occasion, security situation was very tight and scared as various uniformed personnel heavily armed were deplored as if Judas Ischariot was in attendance.  The event took place within the street where EFCC headquarters is situated.
