Onyekuru in no rush to join new club

Super Eagles striker Henry Onyekuru is not in a rush to decide his future in the current transfer window, despite being without a club at the moment, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Onyekuru’s contract with Saudi club Al-Fayha expired at the end of June. He joined them from Turkish club Adana Demirspor in the summer of 2023.

On-Air-Personality Onyebuchi Onokala reported on Wednesday that the Nigeria international is currently pondering an offer from Turkish Super Lig side Antalyaspor.

“Official talks started between Henry Onyekuru and Antalyaspor. The club made Henry a good offer and he’s thinking about it,” Onokala posted via X.

“If Henry says yes, the club will send a private jet to pick him up from Nigeria immediately to Turkey for medicals.”

While the player is also thinking about the offer, the OAP revealed that Onyekuru is not in a rush to join a new club this summer.

“Henry is in no rush to make a decision because there are still interested clubs from Turkey and other countries. He already turned down two Turkish clubs already.”

Without a club since the end of his spell with Al-Fayha, the 28-year-old had turned down Istanbul Başakşehir and Kocaelispor.

According to Footy-Africa, the Nigerian international has turned down approaches from both Turkish sides due to disagreements over salary demands.

He was also linked with a move to Besiktas but the club denied any negotiations with his entourage.

Onyekuru has been a familiar figure in Turkish football, having enjoyed notable spells with Galatasaray, where he won the Süper Lig title, and later with Adana Demirspor.
