Anambra School Sports Festival Ends In Emotional Grand Style As Njikoka Emerge Champions

The Anambra Sports Solution Initiative (ANSSI) for primary and secondary schools came to an exciting meeting moment with discovering of promising youths at the Awka Township Stadium.

The school sports festival which started in March saw the discovery of promising athletes and players across Anambra state.

Gov. Chukwuma Soludo who was at the stadium to witness the final football match and last sets of the athletics events described their performances as promising.

Njikoka Local Government were the overall champions with 18 gold, 14 silver and eight bronze while Awka South and Onitsha South Local Government Areas clinched the second and third positions respectively.

He said his administration was intentional in evolving a virile sports economic while expressing hope that the young lads would rise to become future national and international champions.

“So far Anambra is been doing great, from 15th in national youth games to 8th position, we will not stop until we start to take 1st

“Congratulations to all of you and our champions, sports economy is real because it is keeping our youths busy, productive and livelihood,” he said

The Anambra Sports Solution Initiative 2025 had Awka South and Onitsha North Local Government Areas and second and third position in the final table.

“For the boys that played the final football match, I enjoyed your game because you played like pros,” he said.

Njikoka Local government, the overall winners in the medal table received cash reward donation of N3 million, Awka South  N2 million for second position and Onitsha South N1 million  for third position from the governor.

Inno-Posh Chimezie, a Chief of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) commended Soludo for his consistency to youth development through sports.

Chikezie also congratulated the Patrick-Estate Onyedum Chairman of the Sports Commission for successful organisation of the third edition of ANSSI.

He called on the state to nurture the new athletes and players to maturity expressing hope that they would rule the world in no distant time.
