Enyimba captain, Chinedu Udoji, is confident the Peoples Elephant will cover themselves in glory when they face Egyptian club, Zamalek, in the Caf Champions League on Monday.
The Nigerian club have lost all two of their previous group stage games and need a positive result to put their campaign back on track.
There was a risk that Udoji and several of his teammates would miss out on the clash against Zamalek after Caf announced that the game would be played on Saturday.
The Enyimba stars were in Spain representing Nigeria via the NPFL All Star at the Trofeo Ramon de Carranza.
A strongly-worded protest by Enyimba however meant the game was moved forward to Monday, August 15.
Udoji says the events of the last few days will inspire Enyimba to success on Monday.
“We are happy to be here. We were bitter when we got the news about the change of date for the game and we decided to travel and make this huge sacrifice for the team.
“We are happy the management won the battle for us (players). It will give us enough time to rest and bond with the team before the game on Monday," Udoji was quoted as saying on the club’s official website, www.enyimbafc.net.
Enyimba head coach, Paul Aigbogun, is also optimistic going into Monday’s game.
Aigbogun insists Zamalek is an excellent side but believes painstaking preparations to get a positive result will eventually pay off.
“We are here (Cairo) to get a good result and if not why are we here? We have prepared to get a good result and we will give our 100% best and hopefully on the match day we will achieve our target as a team.
“I don't think we are looking at the fact they (Zamalek) lost home and away to Sundowns, their overall performances this season is great.
“We don't have to concentrate too much on the Sundowns games, we have to work and prepare for their strength and weakness.
“They are a fantastic team, we have done our best to monitor them.
“Saw their last game in the Cup final about few days ago, they are a decent side but I think the pressure is on them more than us.
“Home games are different, it is a good omen for the fact that Sundowns came here and won and a lot of teams have won away in the competition this season, but we have to be at our best and maybe they have to be a bit behind us in the game," said Aigbogun.
